Words to live by: 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
My youngest daughter, Tessa, is engaged to marry her love, Casey Reppel Jr. We hosted an engagement party this past weekend and it was so fun! Before we get to those pictures, I wanted to share a little about their engagement.
Back in December, Casey contacted my other two daughters, Jessica and Krista and myself and asked if he could take us out to dinner. You should have seen the texts flying about on that day, let me tell you!!
We knew they were planning a trip to Disney World for Tessa’s birthday in early January. He told us at dinner that while they were there, his intention was to ask her to marry him. And she doesn’t know! He had it all planned out. He reserved a horse and buggy ride for them and planned to ask her they stepped off. Well, Jessica has some connections with event planners at Disney. She helped to arrange for a pillow made of real flowers to be snuck to Casey to place the ring on. Just like the prince and the glass slipper. The carriage driver was to be the photographer.
I remember that I had just finished a Zumba class when Casey texted this picture to me with the words: “SHE SAID YES!!” So as you can imagine, this is a very special photo!
Since they were away, we had time to put together a little family engagement party for them to welcome them home.
So there is the back story to the big party we had this weekend.
When Tessa first came up with this party idea, it started out as a “Will you be my bridesmaid?” party for her sisters and friends. Then they thought, why not combine it with a party for all their friends and family? So the plan was for the girls to arrive 30 minutes prior to the other guests. She could tell the girls how much they all meant to her and give them a gift.
We tried to make our sunroom look special for this little get together.
Jessica made these two signs. So creative.
Now another cool and creative thing that was done for the party, was from her friend/bridesmaid, Madina. She had a Snapchat filter designed for the day. It was only good at our house and for that day. Here is what it looked like:
I’m not on Snapchat, but all the young people at the party were and they just loved this cool graphic that they could add to their pics!
Casey used this opportunity to ask his friends to be his groomsmen as well.
He gathered them all our front and asked the “batchelorette” style – by offering them a shot aged scotch and the words: Will you be my best man/groomsman?
Now Kevin, here in the plaid shirt, is a good friend to both Casey and Tessa. He was not asked to be in the wedding party – we was asked to be the officiant!
He was so touched and surprised!
Now that the “business” is taken care of, we can have some fun!
That’s Krista after she was thrown in by her brother in law, Jon!
Steve’s daughter Rebekah and her new beau! Krista made these cute little signs to hold up.
Jessica and Jon!
I hope you enjoyed these pics of our engagement party!
Have a lovely day my friends!
