Words to live by: Proverbs 16:9 The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. We all have plans, and thoughts on what we should do, but always talk to God first. He will guide you in the way you should go.
Hello sweet readers! I’m back! Not that I actually went anywhere – well I did go on an awesome vacation, but that’s for another post 🙂 However, I am back to blogging and it feels great.
I think I just needed some time. Time to rethink a lot of things here. I sometimes don’t like to get too wordy, because I don’t know if anyone really gives a flying fig what I write – let’s get to the outfit pics! Which brings me to one of the things I’ve been thinking a lot about. Clothes. Fashion. Style and style bloggers. You see, I like clothes. For as long as I can remember, I have always liked clothes. And shoes. But that’s not all I am about. The problem is that I think some aspects of style blogging have distorted my priorities.
When I first started reading blogs, about 6 years ago, I was enthralled with the bloggers who were showing outfits created from their own closets. They were giving me tons of ideas on how to wear similar items that I had hanging in my closet. However now, it seems that so many bloggers are showing brand new clothing everyday. This is hard for me to wrap my head around.
My intention when I post outfits, is to give you ideas on how to use what you own, not encourage you to buy more clothes. Unless you want to! So that brings me to what to do about my little blog. I have prayed about it and I truly feel God’s leading to continue blogging. What I have decided is to mix things up a bit and do style and lifestyle posts as well as continue sharing God’s word.
I told you how I bought a Fitbit back in April and how much walking I was doing? Well, turns out I injured my feet pretty badly! From walking. Seriously, just walking. I have very high arches and they started aching. I would even wake up in the middle of the night and would be in a lot of pain.
At first I thought it was because my sneakers didn’t have enough arch support, so I went to the New Balance store, and was fitted properly and bought the special insert for arches. Still pain. Then I purchased arch supports for all my shoes. Still pain. I would wake up and have to sit with ice on my feet every morning.
I made an appointment with a podiatrist and he explained that I did indeed injure my feet from walking because I did not stretch properly after walking!!! Who knew? I mean I walk all the time and never thought I needed to stretch. But apparently when I increased the time and distance, I needed to stretch really well afterwards. So long story short, I now have to sleep with a boot on my foot. (One boot – switch feet each night) He gave me pain meds with an anti-inflammatory. I have lots of stretching exercises to do each day and am in physical therapy. Phew! I really want to get back to walking, Zumba and other activities so I am very motivated.
Here is what I wore to church:
It’s good to be back with you ladies!
Have a lovely day my friends!
