Words to live by: 1 John 3:20 For if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and knows all things. Do not listen to the lies the evil one whispers to our hearts: “You’re not good enough, you’re not doing enough, you don’t matter”. God knows our motives as well as our actions. To God, you matter. He sent His Son to die for you. You matter.
First of all, let me say how blown away and humbled I was to read all your dear comments to my last post. I deeply appreciate each one of you!
Last week, my husband and I went on an awesome vacation to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. It was a conference for my hubby’s work as a financial advisor with Thrivent Financial. I did my best to try and document as much as possible and am excited to share it with you.
We flew from Hartford, Connecticut to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We were scheduled to leave Minneapolis for Spokane, Washington (Spokane is the closet major airport to Coeur d’Alene) at 11:30am. Well, it turns out that the flight was overbooked and they asked for volunteers to take a later flight. Now, one thing you should know is that my hubby is a
big huge Boston Red Sox fan. When he heard about this, he of course checked the schedule and noted that the Sox were in town to play the Twins for a 1:00pm game. (Are you starting to get where this is going??) He asked what I thought, and I said if they give us a decent offer like $300 each, I’d be willing to do it. The gate agent said she would give us $400 each to fly out at 10:30pm but we had to wait until the everyone boarded to make sure they needed our seats. Well, they did need our seats and and were so appreciative of us waiting that they gave us $600 each! If you could have seen our faces. I mean, we had already agreed to $400!
Since our luggage would be sent on we didn’t have to worry about it for the day. So we jumped on the light rail train that takes you directly from the airport to Target Field where the Twins play. It was a beautiful, sunshiny day and we got tickets right behind home plate.
State Fair Classic is well know around Minnesota. I got such a kick out of the sign reading “Pork Chop on a Stick”! I went with the more traditional hot dog!
Here is a not very good pic of what I wore that day. A long, sleeveless tunic over leggings and a white denim jacket. I also wore my new sneaks because I knew I would be walking a lot. Of course, I thought that the walking would be around airports, not Minneapolis!
After the game, we headed into town. We didn’t stop here, but did on our last visit and we thought it would be a good place for a photo.
Next stop was Zelo’s for their famous, Tomato Basil Soup and a refreshing beverage! We decided to share a bowl since we knew we were still going to have dinner.
I have some serious hat hair going here! #notprettydon’tcare
After that, we walked to Manny’s Steakhouse. My husband loves a good ribeye, but I’m not much of a steak girl. Thankfully, they have many other delights on their menu! Now that is a steak knife that means business! I only used mine to butter my bread!
I ordered the Sea Bass which was out of this world! The sides are served family style, which is great if you are there with a group. There was way too much for just the two of us though!
When dinner was finished we walked back to the light rail train that took us back to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight. By the time we arrived at the resort, it was 12:30am, which means is was 3:30am our time. Now considering we woke up at 4:00am to catch our first flight, we have now been up for almost 24 hours! Exhaustion doesn’t begin to describe it. We were sure happy to find that our luggage was waiting for us in our room.
So that was day 1 of our vacation! I’ll have more for you in upcoming posts.
Until then, have a lovely day my friends!
