Words to live by: Mark 5:36 Jesus – “Don’t be afraid. Just believe.” The next time you feel afraid, look at your problem from Jesus’ point of view. He is the source of all hope and promise.
Are you a morning person? Do you look forward to hearty breakfast? Or do you prefer something on the go? When I’m working, I need something quick but I still want it to be healthy and to fuel me up for the day.
I started making morning smoothies years ago and have since tried umpteen (Is umpteen a number? It is in my book) different variations. I thought I would share with you my latest version, which also happens to be one of the tastiest!
I mentioned in an earlier post that my friend, Juli, from Minnesota, introduced me to vanilla, whey, protein powder. Prior to that, I simply blended fruit, veggies and almond milk. I find this way is even tastier and with the added protein, I stay full longer.
For the record, you don’t need a fancy blender. I just use my good, old Oster!
I start with a whole banana. Next, I put in several strawberries. How many is several? Depends on the size, but around 8 or so. After that, a good sized handful of kale or spinach – or both.
I like that this protein powder is available at Target for about $18. Easy peasy.
I just layer the fruit and veggies in the blender, then put in a few ice cubes. Next I top with vanilla almond milk. How much? I usually just eyeball it! I’m making it for 2, so a little over 2 cups I think. I blend that until mostly smooth, then add 2 scoops of the protein powder. Again, 2 scoops since I am making 2 servings. Blend in the protein powder for a few more seconds then pour into glasses.
This recipe can be easily adapted to whatever fruits you have on hand.. Even frozen fruit works great!
School is coming……Here’s to smoooooth mornings! Cheers!
Have a lovely day my friends!
