Words to live by: Luke 12:15 “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist of the abundance of his possessions.” NIV
Another version of Luke 12:15:
Life is not defined by what you have, even when have a lot. MSG
Being happy, joyful, and fulfilled has nothing to do with having more stuff. Society and retailers bombard us with images of products trying to get us to buy more and more – enticing us to think we will be happier, more fulfilled and comfortable. How do you respond to the constant pressure to buy more? Learn to tune out the enticements and concentrate on living the truly good life – living in relationship with God and looking for ways to help others.
I thought this verse was so appropriate for those of us who are being bombarded with the Nordstrom sale. I mean, I like Nordstrom as much as the next girl, but to be constantly told “this is a must buy” and “get your fall wardrobe musts now!” is just way too much. I am not fulfilled by clothes and shoes. Thankfully!
In my constant quest to to find things to wear that help me to feel pulled together, somewhat stylish and beat the heat, I pulled out this sleeveless chambray dress. Since I keep spying it just hanging around in my closet, I thought why not? I mean it’s fairly lightweight and sleeves right?
It has an elastic waist, but I think it looks a little plain, so I added the belt.
You can’t see them too well in these photos, but I’m wearing my blue wedges by b.o.c.
I planned to wear this to meet a friend for lunch, but after going outside for pictures, I was completely wilted from the heat and humidity. I now remember why I don’t wear this dress too often. It has entirely too much fabric up around the neck for this menopausal woman! (TMI? Sorry. Just being real!) I went right back in and changed into a breezy tank and shorts.
I’ll be back on Monday with a post about about my real life blogger meet up with Amy from Amy’s Creative Pursuits!
Have a lovely day my friends!
