Words to live by: 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge. I’m so enamored by this picture of a mother bird protecting her babies. Harsh winds and fierce rain pellet the bird. She will take the brunt of the storm to protect her babies. He took the cross, to protect us.
I mentioned to you that I went to Nashville and Memphis back in April. I was only there for and extended weekend because I needed to get back for work, but my husband was there for the entire week. It was a conference for his company and one of the entertainers they brought in was Vince Gill. If you are country music fan, you know who I mean, if not , trust me, He is a pretty big deal! Well, he was a bigger deal 10-20 years ago, but hey, a big deal to me! Oh, and he is married to Amy Grant, my all time favorite Christian singer.
Unfortunatly, I didn’t get to see him at the Grand Ol’ Opry, but my husband did. He felt really bad, because he is not a country music fan and he knows how much I would have enjoyed it. Well, my hubby heard that he was coming to Connecticut for a concert so he bought tickets for us and our friends, Rebecca and Jim. (Rebecca is also a country fan.) But the real kicker is that he spoke with his company’s event planner and through that connection, was able to score backstage passes for us! The concert was this past Friday night and it was such a special night.
Here is what I wore : (Also should be noted that it was 90 degrees and really humid!)
I wanted to be cool and comfortable and did not want anything too tight or clingy.
Here are a few pics from that evening.
Here he is walking into the area we were waiting with about 10 other guests. He had changed out of his concert wear – jeans and a black tee shirt and jacket. He was so down to earth and friendly! Someone said “Man, you look tired!” he replied “I just got off work!”
There’s Rebecca smiling so pretty and me and my big goofy grin!
Steve took the opportunity to tell Vince, that he had seen him in April with the Thrivent group and he looked at him questioning for a moment then said “Oh yes, the private group!” Then we mentioned that we also saw Amy at the Thrivent conference 2 years ago, and he remembered that it was in Chicago. I just share that because it was fun to have a little conversation with him. Really friendly 🙂

They had made a joke that they were all big boys and Vince said “Yea, well, let’s get a picture with the big boys!”
So there is my story of my brush with greatness! Haha!
Have a lovely day my friends!
